Inquire about this workAbout the Gorilla Kettlebell
Strength without words: the gorilla has long been the image of raw power, of the leader who rules by presence alone. In the Gorilla Kettlebell the animal’s brow, nose and jaw are modelled on the round mass of the weight, and the handle rises like a crown. The work asks what we admire in that strength, what we fear in it, and how much of it we carry ourselves. It opens The Weights of Dominance, with the lion, the bear and the dog.
Editions and dimensions
The Gorilla Kettlebell is made in 3 numbered editions, named after boxing weight classes: Heavyweight, an edition of 30 pieces (25 × 18 × 18 cm, 5 kg); Middleweight, an edition of 60 pieces (19 × 13 × 13 cm, 2 kg); and Featherweight, an edition of 90 pieces (13 × 9 × 9 cm). The form is the same in every edition; only scale and mass change.
Colours and finishes
It is made in 9 colours: black glossy, blue, yellow, orange, magenta, green, red, black & yellow and black & magenta. Special finishes, with more work by hand: black & gold, scarred; silver & blue, scarred; and antique bronze. Other colours can be made on request.
