Inquire about this workAbout the Marcus Aurelius Kettlebell
Marcus Aurelius wrote his Meditations for himself alone: notes on duty, restraint and the passing of things. The Marcus Aurelius Kettlebell gives that inner dialogue material form. The emperor’s curled hair and beard, in the language of Roman portraiture, sit under the plain arc of the handle, and the bust becomes a contemporary imperial sculpture. In The Weights of Philosophy it stands beside Socrates: two paths towards knowing oneself.
Editions and dimensions
The Marcus Aurelius Kettlebell is made in 3 numbered editions, named after boxing weight classes: Heavyweight, an edition of 30 pieces (32 × 23 × 16 cm, 5 kg); Middleweight, an edition of 60 pieces (25 × 19 × 13 cm, 2 kg); and Featherweight, an edition of 90 pieces (19 × 14 × 10 cm). The form is the same in every edition; only scale and mass change.
