Group Exhibition "Platforms Project" 2026

17–20.09.2026, Kapnergostasio, Athens

Participation with the artist group ArtUnitas in the 14th Platforms Project, the international exhibition of the independent art scene.

Platforms Project 2026 runs from 17 to 20 September 2026 at the Kapnergostasio of the Hellenic Parliament — the former Public Tobacco Factory, now the Library and Printing House of the Parliament — at 218 Lenorman Street in Athens.

Now in its fourteenth consecutive year, it is the largest international visual arts exhibition of the independent art scene in Greece, bringing together 66 artistic platforms from 22 countries and more than 1,100 artists. It is directed by Artemis Potamianou and Michalis Argyrou, with Artemis Potamianou as artistic curator.

Unlike a commercial art fair, the artists stay present throughout the four days: alongside the main exhibition the programme includes seminars, lectures, performances, presentations, guided tours, educational activities and workshops.

ArtUnitas — “No man’s land”

Makeshift football “pitches” on vacant lots between demolished buildings, among working-class apartment blocks and small villages, with stones, sticks or bags placed just so to mark the goalposts. Balls — some made from all sorts of everyday materials, others simply old and second-hand — do the job. Children of every age kick a round object, setting reality aside for a while. The power of football as play, and the children’s imagination in identifying with famous footballers, create an environment where adults are absent: a temporary refuge.

ArtUnitas “build” the symbolic miniature of such a pitch, an altar on which each artist of the group lays their work as an offering to a game that, for children, works as a space that needs neither a white flag nor any agreement. The result is a single collective work that points to the redemptive power of play and to the value of children’s creative imagination.

Participating artists:
Elli Velliou, Ennios-Eros Giogos, Vassilis Theos, Andreas Kalakallas, Maria Kelaidi, Tita Stavrou, Athina Hatzi, Anna Maria Hadjistephanou.
