Group Exhibition "Invisible Seams"

On Sunday 8 March 2026, the day internationally dedicated to the struggles and achievements of women, Imagine Visual Arts opens the group exhibition “Invisible Seams” in Paiania, in collaboration with the Visual Artists Association of Mesogaia. The opening runs from 19:00 to 22:00, with free admission, supported by Samos Wines – UWC Samos 1934 as wine sponsor for the evening. The exhibition runs until 29 March 2026.
The choice of 8 March is not merely a calendar coincidence. Marking International Women’s Day, 48 artists of the Visual Artists Association of Mesogaia approach the female presence as embodied experience, cultural formation and a vehicle of historical continuity.
The contemporary woman moves within an environment of multiple demands. Professional role, motherhood, creative activity and social participation coexist within a single lived experience. Managing this complexity requires a continuous reconstitution of the self, flexibility and inner resilience. “Invisible Seams”, curated by the art historian Helen Gatsa, seeks to render this condition through works that carry intensity, sensitivity and an awareness of the subject.
The title works as a central metaphor. The “seam” denotes connection and cohesion. Like the threads that hold a garment together, the mechanisms that shape female experience are often invisible, even though they determine the form of the social body. In this light, invisible seams stand for acts of care, transmission of knowledge, informal education and creative continuity.
The visual language of the exhibition is polymorphic: painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media coexist, reflecting the complexity of the subject. Materials such as fabric, thread, metal, glass and organic matter operate symbolically. The domestic and the everyday shift from the margin to the centre of the artistic act, acquiring an aesthetic and political dimension.
“Invisible Seams” constitutes a space of dialogue in which the multiple voices of the artists are interwoven into a collective body of discourse. They do not propose a single narrative about woman; they bring out complexity, ambiguity, and the coexistence of vulnerability and strength within her.
